Despite the easing of lockdown across the country and non-essential businesses opening up charities continue to struggle owing to the lack of fundraising events.
Compassionate groups and individuals haven’t let that stop them from organising virtual events and activities to raise badly needed funds.
Macclesfield amateur comedienne and frontline worker, Sue Armitt, has been been running a series of virtual monologues helping raise money.
Sue appealed to Facebook subscribers for questions which she replied to as alter ego ‘Doris Dart’. The responses on ‘Doris Dart Daily’, were broadcast every day for 100 days between March 27 and July 4.
Sue said: “It’s been tough at times but many folks have appreciated a daily giggle around tea time to help cope with lockdown. I video and share myself as alter ego, Doris Dart, for 3-4 minutes daily, recording my monologue and answering questions from the public in my own style of humour. It is influenced by The Two Ronnies and older style comics”.
Macclesfield-born Sue has lived her entire life in the same house on Hurdsfield with husband, Chris.
Occasionally, Chris, affectionately referred to as ‘Jezza’ owing to his resemblance to former Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, features in Doris Dart Daily.
Having completed her 100-day fundraising stint, Sue managed to raise £520 for East Cheshire Hospice, a specialist hospice for individuals suffering with life-limiting illnesses that is based in Macclesfield.
