Funding boost for Peak District Health Walks

The Peak District National Park Foundation has been awarded over £1,200 from the Co-op Local Community Fund. 

The grant will help to pay for supported walks in the Peak District for people with long-term poor health.

Foundation fundraising officer Claire Barlow said: “We were thrilled that so many shoppers at our local Co-op in Baslow – and Co-op members from across the country – chose to support our Health Walks project. 

“The £1,243.28 will help fund transport to get people to the walk locations, as well as helping to fund Rangers and volunteers to lead the walks. We’d like to say a big thank you to the Co-op and everyone who nominated the Foundation as their community project.”

Health Walks are just one of the projects benefitting from funding from the Foundation’s #70kfor70 campaign. The campaign aims to raise £70,000 to celebrate the 70th birthday of the Peak District National Park in April 2021. The £70,000 will fund projects that care for the Peak District and help it to be accessible for everyone. Projects include Junior Rangers, Moors for the Future, the Peak District trails network and Accessible Derbyshire.
