Professional drummer Elliott Henshaw’s recording of ‘Seize the Day’ is raising vital funds for East Cheshire Hospice.
Composed by Elliott with lyrics by Miranda Wilford, Seize The Day was written in memory of Elliott’s mum, who passed away at East Cheshire Hospice in 2020.
Elliott, originally from Wilmslow, is the drummer and musical director for Leo Sayer and Tony Christie, wanted to give back to the hospice by releasing the charity single.
“My mum passed away almost a year ago,” Elliott explained. “For the final few weeks she was at East Cheshire Hospice and the staff were so wonderful. So, we wanted to raise a little bit of money to say thank you.”
“My sister and my niece completed a sponsored walk and ended up raising about £1,200. I’m a professional musician and of course in lockdown, even though we are not playing live, I do have my own recording studio.”
“The song was recorded in lockdown by musicians who have not been able to perform live since March 2020,” Elliott added. They all gave their time for free and they are some of the finest musicians in the UK who play with the likes of Duran Duran, The Brand New Heavies, Jane McDonald, Beverley Knight and Joss Stone.”
Now living in London, Elliott published Seize the Day on Bandcamp where listeners can download the track and donate. http://www.elliotthenshaw.bandcamp.com/releases.
About 17 per cent of East Cheshire Hospice’s funding is from the Government and the remainder is through donations.
