Fans of Buxton Opera House will be able to hear more from their favourite theatre with the launch of their new podcast.
The Cast from Buxton Opera House will give listeners the chance to take a peek behind the scenes, with interviews, masterclasses, history and more. Directors, performers, artists and creatives will share their experiences and knowledge of the theatre in the hills – hoping to give audiences more of an insight of the people that help keep the opera house running, and performers who visit it.
The first two episodes will be available to download on Tuesday 22 June. Featuring in the first two podcast’s listeners will find out about Chief Executive Paul Kerryson who along with heading up the Opera House, is also a renowned director who has worked with some of the very best performers and crew in the industry. Paul was also awarded an MBE in 2015 for his services to the theatre industry.
The podcast will give listeners the unique chance to learn about Buxton Opera House’s own productions, their Learning and Engagement programme and hearing from visiting shows. Future episodes will include an interview with the set designers of A Little Night Music, Buxton Opera House’s first co-production with Buxton International Festival. Other episodes also include local tales from stories from collectors from Buxton Opera House’s latest collaboration Moving Stories. Moving Stories feature participants who collect, listen and gather stories of local people from all walks of life, seeking out stories that might otherwise go unheard.

Through our monthly podcast we really hope to give audiences that exclusive look behind-the-scenes. It’s thanks to the Culture Recovery Fund that we are able to make this podcast series and discover new ways of communicating with our audiences.’
The Cast from Buxton Opera House will be broadcast monthly and is produced by local podcast producer Pete Allen from Carrot Cruncher Media. Pete has worked in the radio industry for 25 years as both a producer and presenter, and now works on a large range of podcasts such as Running with Jake: The Plodcast.
