Cheshire Police are appealing for information after a 41-year-old man was found with injuries, at the junction of Buxton Road and York Road, near to Victoria Park shortly after 4 am on Friday 11 June.
Police are trying to establish how the man sustained his injuries and would like to speak to anyone with information.
Detective Constable George Vlastos said: “We understand that this incident may cause come concern but I would like to reassure people that we are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of what happened.
“The man also had two black bags which are unaccounted for and we’re keen to find out what happened to them.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the Victoria Park area at around 10pm Thursday 10 June and 5am Friday 11 June who may have seen the man or something that did not look quite right.
“The same goes to anyone who may have dashcam footage from driving past the area.”
