At BBC Gardeners’ World Live Special Edition, this August
Following on from the sell-out success of last month’s first ever BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair, which took place at Beaulieu in Hampshire, sights are now firmly set on a return to the NEC in August for the Special Edition of BBC Gardeners’ World Live.
In 2021, this key event features later in the gardening calendar than usual, running from August 26-29, with a host of outdoor features including inspirational Show Gardens and expert advice from much loved presenters Monty Don, Carol Klein and Adam Frost of the BBC2 programme, on the My Gardeners’ World Stage.
BBC Gardeners’ World Live Special Edition will also showcase an incredible array of beautiful blooms and perfect plants to browse and buy, from quality nurseries in the Floral Marquee and Plant Village.
Show Gardens will be packed with innovative ways to transform outdoor spaces and Beautiful Borders show that even the most compact areas can be transformed into an oasis.
A brand-new House of Plants feature, in the centre of the Floral Marquee, will celebrate the joy of houseplants and how they can bring style to any space.
There’s lots for little ones too in the Family Gardening section, with ideas to get everyone involved from growing your own food to weaving willow and there will be toe-tapping entertainment from Marella Cruise performers at The Bandstand, with plenty of tasty treats to enjoy in the pop up BBC Good Food Market.
SHOW GARDENS
Glorious gardens will inspire and encourage visitors to have a go at home with plenty of great ideas to take away.
What Lies Beneath, a collaboration between The APL and Professor David Stevens will give a unique eye-level cross-section of the foundations and underlying structures that underpin a great garden, giving visitors a glimpse on what lies beneath…
The garden will give an insight into the important role of landscape companies and the landscaping process that is vital to a gardens’ success but often invisible and misunderstood.
On Your Bike by Hana Leonard with Armstrong Landscapes Ltd is inspired by cycling. The striking artistic vision will bring recycling, upcycling and cycling all together in one place.
The Lilian Prime Garden by Darren Purdy, Sue Arthur and Derby College will offer a thoughtful interpretation of the journey that people who live with Multiple Sclerosis take to finding peace and happiness.
Nature’s Resilience, designed by Moska Design and Seedology, will celebrate the power of plants to heal, calm, awaken the senses, spark imagination and bring joy, with a space jam-packed with plants offering a host of therapeutic properties for the mind, body and soul.
A VERY BRITISH AFFAIR: APL AVENUE
Five APL Avenue Show Gardens, the size of a typical UK back garden, will take inspiration from quintessential^ British themes.
Earthstone Landscapes Ltd draws on the drama of James Bond with a sleek, modern, sweeping design that focuses on creating a dazzling spot to dine outdoors in true Bond style.
Gunns & Roses’ design looks towards the British manufacturing industry to create a brutalist, contemporary space that uses herbaceous borders to soften large concrete blocks.
Outdoor Creations will take the Great British Allotment to a new level with a garden bursting with tasty treats for humans and pollinators alike.
TAW Garden Landscapes is inspired by woodland to create a secluded space with a nod to British drizzle in a dripping moss wall.
Teasels Landscapes will bring the British coast to Birmingham with a beach garden including a pebble beach, upturned boat, driftwood and fisherman’s hut.
BEAUTIFUL BORDERS
More than 20 Beautiful Borders will celebrate flower power with creative designs that demonstrate just how gardens, and gardening, can uplift the spirits, from mental wellbeing to biodiversity, community projects to inspiration for children.
The designers of the Borders will show how plants are true multi-taskers, they help wildlife, bring communities together and can also be great to eat too!
FLORAL MARQUEE & PLANT VILLAGE
Hosting one of the largest floral marquees in the country, nurseries from across the UK will put on a dazzling display of colour and scent. Carnivorous plant nursery Shropshire Sarracenias will be exhibiting at the show for the first time, with a selection of their vast range of plants.
The Plant Village presents further high-quality nurseries displaying their most perfect specimens to browse and buy from.
BBC GOOD FOOD MARKET
A tasty mix of artisan food and drink producers from the BBC Good Food Show will bring the flavour of summer to the Show with street food and seasonal specials to sample and purchase.
From tispy tarts to cracking cookies and sizzling spices to specialist tea blends there’ll be something suitable for every palate.
