Former head coach of the Scottish Borders Elite swimming team, now a teacher at The King’s School in Macclesfield, Lauren Jocelyn has been selected to coach the British Paralympics swimming team in Tokyo.

Lauren, currently Head of Swimming at King’s, has been coaching for around fifteen years.

Lauren, who was also Assistant Coach at the National Performance Centre for British Paralympic swimming in Manchester, explained that she was ‘over the moon’ when presented with the opportunity.

She said: “It is an amazing opportunity and I cannot wait to get out there and support the team.

“I received a phone call from the national Head Coach of the British Paralympics Swimming team – Rob Audry.

“Initially we are going to head straight to Suzuka for a holding camp for a period and then we travel to Tokyo for the games.

“We have a strong team of 24 athletes heading over and it is a great mix of experienced athletes and also new contenders coming through for their first ever games.

“There is so much potential within the team and I just cannot wait for the racing to start now.”

Lauren also enjoyed a successful career in swimming and is a former Team GB and Scottish swimmer, having competed at international level in the breaststroke event as a junior and senior.

Lauren flies out to Tokyo on 11th August.
