Spanning 110 feet high and 45 feet wide, the windows of the Arighi Bianchi’s spectacular Victorian building has been brought to life with a dramatic heritage themed blue and gold advent calendar design which draws upon the history of the landmark building’s glass and iron architecture.
The brainchild of Arighi Bianchi’s senior graphic designer, Hannah Wilson, the display has been created to bring some extra Christmas cheer to Macclesfield – creating an awe-inspiring spectacle to surprise and delight shoppers and visitors to the town.
This is the first time in the store’s 167 year history that they have created a Christmas window using the whole expanse of the store.
Hannah Wilson, said: “When I heard that the Macclesfield Christmas lights switch on had been cancelled, I just knew that there was something that we could do to make this year’s festivities extra special for the people of the area – and then I realised how perfectly the store’s iconic windows leant themselves to an advent calendar.
“It is amazing to see my design brought to life on such a magnificent scale. It really does bring a bit of Christmas magic to the town, making people of all ages stop and smile when they see what we have created.”
Nick Bianchi, Director of Arighi Bianchi, said: “Christmas is such a special time at the store – and with last year’s celebrations being all but cancelled we wanted to do something extra special for the people of the town.
“Outside the windows have been brought to life and it really is special to see the building lit up in this way. Inside we have created our biggest Christmas shop ever – with a huge range of decorations and gift ideas. Having been a fixture of Macclesfield for more than 167 years it feels fitting that we play a role in making Christmas 2021 one to remember.”
