An 88-year-old man had to be airlifted to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ after being hit by a car on, near to the junction of Churchill Way and Hibel Road in Macclesfield.
The incident, which occurred at around 11:25 yesterday, (January 13), involved a Silver Peugeot colliding with a pedestrian, brought traffic chaos across town for several hours.
The pedestrian is believed to have suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Salford Royal Hospital.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 33-year-old woman, did not suffer any injuries during the incident, according to police.
The westbound side of the road was closed for several hours – reopening at 4:00 pm.
A spokesperson for North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We can confirm North West Air Ambulance Charity were called out to an incident involving a male near Hibel Road, Macclesfield at around 11.40am on Thursday 13 January.”
