Driver parks on M56 waiting for air passengers

North West Motorway Police posted an item on its Facebook page yesterday, about a driver who’d come up with a novel way to avoid airport car parking charges.

Rather than paying to wait for his passengers, in the airport car park, he parked his car up on the hard shoulder of the M56.

The post reads:

“Driver spotted on the hard shoulder of the M56 at J5.

“ME51 stopped to check what the emergency was.

“Driver was waiting for a flight to arrive so TOR (Traffic Offence Report) issued.

“Hard shoulders are for emergencies only and not waiting points.”

Someone responded to the post: “Ridiculous. Hope the fine is significantly more than the car park charge!”
