Public Inquiry into Mobberley traveller site

A public inquiry by a planning inspector is to take place in Macclesfield into an unauthorised traveller site in Mobberley.

The inquiry relates to the material change of use of land in Broadoak Lane, Mobberley for residential caravans, equestrian use, hardstanding area, gates, fencing and timber buildings without planning permission.

The hearing, from 1 – 3 March, in Macclesfield Town Hall, will have limited capacity for press and public and anyone wishing to attend, either to observe or give their views, must make their interest known to the Planning Inspectorate case officer, Dan Engle, as soon as possible, prior to the event.

Anyone wishing to attend will also need to contact Cheshire East Council, in advance, by e-mailing:  planningappeals@cheshireeast.gov.uk to request a place. All requests to attend will be treated on a first come first served bases and anyone wishing to attend must specify the day they wish to attend. All requests must be submitted before Thursday 24 February.

The council will then notify interested parties whether they have been allocated a seat in the public gallery. Face coverings should be worn on entrance and exist and while moving around the building. 

Cheshire East Council will provide a dedicated audio facility only via the council chamber, to allow members of the public to attend and listen to proceedings. It will also be possible to access the hearing remotely via an internet audio link www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/20-3462m The above link will become live from the start of the inquiry at 10am. 

The appeal decision will be published on the planning inspectorate website at a later date.
