Dan Lancaster is the new Chair of ‘The Roe-naissance Project’, an architect working in the private residential sector with a keen interest in listed buildings.
For him, the quality of build in listed buildings can never be replicated using cheaper modern materials.
Christ Church with its imposing size, early use of cast iron columns and local historic importance makes it special.
Dan has volunteered in several other local groups including Macc 2020, Wake Up Macc, and Barnaby, and is an enthusiastic advocate of all things Macc.
In Christ Church, he sees the opportunity to make a thriving hub for unique events and large-scale art installations.
In his spare time, Dan enjoys gardening – he set up the Roe’s Gardeners volunteer sub-group that now look after the wider grounds of the church using donated plants and materials to improve biodiversity as well as make the gardens a pleasant and informative public space.
Clare Marchbank is the new Secretary. She has lived in Macclesfield for seven years and is a social worker.
She joined ‘The Roe-naissance Project’ after volunteering as a Special Constable for seven years, as she wanted to carry on giving back to the community.
She is also heavily involved with Roe’s Gardeners working on the grounds and will also be responsible for housekeeping inside the church, ensuring that it is kept clean and tidy. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and is a fan of rugby and football.
We are provisionally discussing changing the name of the group in view of the recent change in leadership and group demographic, but also because our facebook page is up for deletion! Many in the group feel the group name remains largely unknown in the town and no longer serves our purposes. We’ll keep you posted.
