Cheshire based charity, Refugees Welcome, is dedicated to bringing relief and support to vulnerable families displaced by the unrest in their home countries.
Members of the team recently met with local MP, David Rutley, to outline their plans to support families arriving from Ukraine.
Refugees Welcome has a wealth of experience and knowledge supporting refugee families for many years following the Syrian civil war. Since then, the organisation has been providing assistance to families fleeing Afghanistan and more recently, preparing and repurposing their support for the arrival of those seeking refuge from the atrocities in Ukraine.
The hard working and dedicated team at Refugees Welcome have been working closely with Cheshire East Council to ensure that support such as housing, visa applications and provisions are in place. The charity’s proven track record has put them in a great place to share their knowledge with other community organisations and hosts taking part in the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, who are seeking to assist Ukrainian families.
Anyone needing advice or support on bringing Ukrainian refugees into our area, can find further information about the vital work Refugees Welcome is doing on their website, https://www.refugeeswelcome.co.uk/ukraine-appeal.
Speaking after the meeting, David said, “Supporting Ukrainian refugees is clearly an important priority. It has been moving to see such a positive response and the generous donations that have been provided by working together across our local communities. Refugees Welcome has a rich array of experience and knowledge, and I would urge anyone wanting further information, to get in touch with their great team to get the assistance they need.”
