What’s the point of News?

The next meeting of Macclesfield Lit & Phil is on Tuesday 18th October – starting at 7.30 pm – in Macclesfield Library.

Tony Harcup, Emeritus Fellow in Journalism Studies at Sheffield University, will ask What’s The Point of News?

He’ll talk about what makes the news and how some try to suppress and even subvert it.

Tony is the author of” Journalism: Principles and Practice” as well as a  number of other books. In 2008 he was awarded the NUJ Gold Badge in recognition of his work for journalists and journalism students.

The talk will be followed by a short AGM.
