It’s either taken the scammers a little longer than usual or my efforts to tighten up access to my email accounts is paying off.
This one purports to offer £400 from the government Energy Bill Support Scheme.
Of course, if you fill in the form accompanying the message you will have given the scammers your full personal details and those of your credit card.
You don’t need to make a claim, payments will be issues either by your energy company or the Government.
Consign the message to your junk folder and alert any vulnerable friends or members of your family.
Keep safe this Christmas and don’t fall for this scam.

Getting the Energy Bills Support Scheme discount
The Energy Bills Support Scheme provides a £400 non-repayable discount to eligible households to help with their energy bills over winter 2022 to 2023.
* – If you’re a direct debit customer
* – You’ll get the discount automatically in one of the following ways, as:
* – a reduction to your monthly direct debit amount
* – a refund to your bank account following the monthly direct debit collection

How you’ll get the discount
You need to apply for the discount:
* – Personal information
* – The discount will be applied to your monthly household electricity bill for 6 months starting in October 2022. You’ll get:
* – £66 in October and November
* – £67 in December, January, February and March
* – You’ll get the discount monthly, even if you pay for your energy quarterly or use a payment card.
