It’s the time of year when the scammers are working overtime trying to separate you from your hard-earned cash.
At first glance this one looks real – but holding a cursor over the sender of the email gave us this:
howarsnow@nf.sympatico.ca – not what you would expect from an email purporting to come from Halifax bank.
The content of the email:
Hanging the cursor over the “confirm my number” hotlink gives a url of hips://strange-northcutt.128-199-111.58.plesk.page/maine/ – which is definitely NOT a Halifax bank website.
Taking a look at the website brings up:
Of course completing the details gives the scammer direct access to your Halifax bank account.
Consign the email to your junk folder – and advise any vulnerable friends or family.
