Visit National Trust properties for free

As part of the National Lottery’s Open Week these these local NT properties will be offering free entrance.

All visitors need to do is present a lottery ticket.

You will be able to visit a number of National Trust properties and sites for free as part of the National Lottery’s Open Week campaign launching later this month.

From March 18 to 26, visitors will get free or discounted entry if they can show they’ve played a national lottery game.

The campaign is to thank National Lottery players who have helped to raise funds for the projects in the arts, community, film, heritage and sport which the National Lottery supports.

Under the scheme one lottery ticket will equate to one adult entry.

You’ll need to show proof of purchase of a National Lottery game, such as instant win games or scratch cards, and this can be either a hard copy ticket or a digital. The date of the draw or purchase isn’t relevant.

You can visit the following properties in the region free with a lottery ticket.

Note: although the open week runs from March 18 to 26, some properties will be closed on certain dates during this period.

Dunham Massey, Trafford, Greater Manchester

You can visit Dunham Massey any day during the open week. It has an extensive 300-acre deer park and beautiful all-season gardens centred around a magnificent house. No advance booking required.

Quarry Bank Mill, Styal

Quarry Bank is open throughout the whole open week and offers free entry with a lottery ticket and you don’t need to book in advance. Built in 1784, it’s one of the best-preserved textile mills of the Industrial Revolution.

Lyme Park, Disley

Located on the edge of the Peak District, Lyme Park is a large country estate with a stunning house at the heart. It will be closed to visitors on March 22, but will be open for the rest of the week – no advance booking required.

Hare Hill, Macclesfield

This beautiful walled garden is just a short drive from Greater Manchester and is surrounded by historic parkland. You don’t need to book in advance. Hare Hill will be open March 18-19 and March 22-26.

Little Moreton Hall, Congleton

Little Moreton Hall is a stunning moated half-timbered manor house in Cheshire. It’ll be open from March 18-19 and March 22-26 – no advance booking required.

Rufford Old Hall, Ormskirk, Lancashire

This timbered Tudor hall is nestled in the Lancashire countryside, a drive away from Greater Manchester. You don’t need to book in advance and it’ll be open March 18-19 and March 24-26.

Speke Hall, Liverpool

One of the best surviving examples of a wood-framed wattle-and-daub Tudor manor house, Speke Hall is located in Liverpool and is just under an hour’s drive from Greater Manchester. You don’t have to book in advance but it will be closed March 20 and March 21.
