Macclesfield, though only a small town, was once the heart of the silk industry in Europe.
It is considered by many to be the western end of the Silk Road, and the silk culture lives on in the town.
As a member of the newly founded International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities, the town continually looks for opportunities to spread its history.
