Hopefully, the first report of the regular rambles of the East Cheshire Ramblers
Another showery day which threatened rain! Six of us set off on this 9.7 mile walk with a total ascent of 1882ft.
Some parts were exceedingly muddy!
We made a steady ascent from Smithy Lane up across the fields to the left of Ginclough Farm where we joined the B5470 and walked a short stretch along the road before taking the footpath down towards Withinlow Farm and on to Harrop Fold Farm, Bakenstonedale Road and Further Harrop Farm.
Taking the upper path through Harrop Wood, Oakenbank and Savio House, we made another steady ascent from Swanscoe Lane to Kerridge Ridge before descending to the bridleway and back to Rainow via Sugar Lane.
East Cheshire Ramblers
East Cheshire Ramblers is a group within the UK-wide Ramblers organisation.
Most of our members live in the area of north-east Cheshire centred around Macclesfield and Wilmslow.
We organise several walks each week which are generally in our local area or the Peak District but are occasionally in North Wales, the Yorkshire Dales or the Lake District.
We have an active footpath maintenance group and our members undertake an annual survey of all the public footpaths in our area, reporting faults to the county council rights of way department
Details of all walks are on our website https://ramblerseastcheshire.org.uk/blog/
