The North West’s leading comedy/folk group are making their way around the region with their 2023 Winter Tour, beginning with a performance at the Pavilion Arts Centre on November 25.
In the almost five decades they have been performing, the band have been at the forefront of the UK’s folk music scene, having performed thousands of concerts, recorded over 30 albums, starred in their own TV series Sit Thi Deawn and made guest appearances on countless Radio and TV shows.
Steve Millington, of The Houghton Weavers said: “We absolutely love coming to Buxton, especially in the Autumn and Winter seasons. It’s such a picturesque place, and The Pavilion Arts Centre is an excellent venue. We host a weekend break in Buxton and then get the joy of returning as part of our winter tour. The audiences are always wonderful, we have a great time.
“I began my tenure with the Houghton Weavers in a Christmas tour almost 30 years ago, so the winter concerts will always have a particularly special place in my heart, I’m very much looking forward to kicking this year’s tour off in Buxton.”
Audiences will be entertained in a show of charming fun, humorous jokes and anecdotes, with plenty of music, varying from raucous and traditional folk songs to sing-along favourites, with beautiful ballads, original pieces and Christmas hits included throughout. Their wide and varied repertoire, alongside their unique and well-known style ensures that no two evenings in the company of The Houghton Weavers are ever the same.
Throughout their career, The Houghton Weavers have been entertaining folk up and down the country and continue to do so with a packed schedule of theatres and other venues, hosting two residential breaks a year, one of which falls in this winter tour.
With a large and active fan club and growing social media following, The Houghton Weavers enjoy entertaining those young and old in a show designed for all the family to enjoy.
It’s set to be a ‘reet good show’ at The Pavilion Arts Centre on Saturday 25 November at 7.30pm, so come and join in with the music and fun, on an evening guaranteed to, as their motto says, “Keep Folk Smiling.”
