The Rural England prosperity fund has been created for councils to deliver as part of the UK government’s levelling-up programme.
The grants are available to voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector organisations, town and parish councils and community buildings.
Do you run a community building and wish to make the building more energy efficient to help with energy bills, or a community facility requiring refurbishment, a new kitchen, improve a footpath or the installation of EV charging points?
You may simply wish to save wildlife and plant some trees. If so this fund could help bring your ideas to life.
Grants are currently available to improve community facilities and buildings, energy efficiency and save carbon through the Improved, Greener Community Facilities Fund, funded by the UK Rural and Shared England Prosperity Fund.
Councillor Mick Warren, Cheshire East Council environment and communities committee chair, said: “Our communities are at the heart of Cheshire East, and we’re committed to making them warmer, greener, and more welcoming for everyone.
“This new fund will empower local groups to transform their buildings into sustainable hubs of activity, reducing energy bills and supporting a healthier environment.”
Organisations from anywhere in the borough can apply for 75% of projects costs up to a maximum of £15,000. Applications will be considered from organisations for local projects, meeting the fund objectives and criteria.
The council is also holding an in-person event for faith sector organisations on Wednesday 17 January at the Caritas Centre, 65 Delamere Street, Crewe CW1 2JX from 10am until 12 noon. Reserve a place by signing up here.
The deadline for fund applications is 19 February 2024.
