Final works on a walking and cycling route start next week.
The scheme via Hurdsfield Road and Black Lane, offers improved access from Macclesfield to the Middlewood Way, one of the borough’s outstanding countryside amenities.
Completion works are due to start today (Monday 19 February) and will take around two weeks. Pedestrian and cycle access to the Middlewood Way will be maintained throughout. The works to realign kerbs, relocate drainage and construct the new footpath will take place at the section by the Tesco exit.
Highways staff will return to the site on Sunday 24 March when the exit will be closed completely for motor vehicles through to Monday morning – approximately 12 hours to resurface the improved crossing and to install road markings.
Contractors will be off site before the Monday rush hour and appropriate signage will be in place. These works will all be completed while the store is closed.
This project has been substantially funded by Sustains, with additional funding provided by the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
