Giant Hogweed on the march

The Prince Albert Angling Society (PAAS) are receiving increasing reports of Giant Hogweed.

Giant Hogweed is common in many places in the UK particularly on riverbanks but under certain weather conditions it does thrive.

If you’re out walking, maybe with your dog, be aware that contact with this plant can cause severe injury to the skin and eyes in the form of blisters and rashes.

The damage to the skin can last for years and flair up again if the area is exposed to sunlight so stay well clear.

PAAS volunteers, who are qualified and licensed to use spraying techniques, have and will continue to treat the problem – along with volunteers from various River Trusts but be alert to the dangers this plant presents to the unwary.

Pay particular attention and care if you have youngsters and pets with you.
