The Viceroy to be converted into house

Cheshire East Council has approved a planning application to convert The Viceroy into a house.

Mohammed Koyes applied for permission to convert The Viceroy on Ingersley Road into a six-bed house with a swimming pool.

Permission was granted by a planning officer under delegated authority.

Several neighbours had objected to the proposal – some because of the loss of the restaurant and others said the large property would not be in keeping with the character of the area.

Rainow Parish Council also objected stating: “The proposals are relatively large compared to the surrounding buildings and will impose on the existing streetscape.”

Bollington Town Council raised no objections.

The report from the Cheshire East planning officer states:

“Agent confirmed that the site was not advertised for sale and that the restaurant is currently operating and due to the owner’s need to retire, the application was submitted to change the use to a dwelling.”

“Considering that the site sits within the residential neighbourhood of Bollington and that the planning policy doesn’t constrain the proposed change of use, there is no policy reason to refuse this submission in principle.”
