Bike thieves threatened boy with knife

A second bike theft has occurred in the area, involving men threatening their victim with a knife.

Cheshire Police investigating the second robbery, which took place in Poynton, are appealing for  witnesses.

On Saturday 1 June, at around 5 pm, a teenage boy who, cycling along Chester Road, Poynton, in the direction of the train station, was approached by two men. 

The men, who were riding a black moped, were described as between the ages of 19 and 21 and wearing black tracksuits and balaclavas.

The men showed the victim a knife before demanded the pedal bike. Taking the bike they left, travelling in the direction of the A555. The teenager was also assaulted during the incident.

The stolen bike is a silver Boardman MTR/8.6 – similar to the one pictured – worth around £1,000.

Detective Sergeant Keith Graham said:

“We would like to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to trace those responsible.

“We are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to get in touch with us, as well as anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of what happened.

“We would also like to appeal to anyone who may have seen those matching the description of the suspects in the nearby area either before or after the reported incident.
