Tunes at the Timber Yard returns to Lyme

Tunes at the Timber Yard is back again at Lyme this summer.

Tunes in the Timber Yard – a series of free live acoustic music events – every Saturday between June 22nd and July 20th 2024.

Between 1 pm and 3 pm enjoy a variety of musical genres, including folk, Irish ditties, rock, and blues – all performed by talented local artists.

Relax with a drink from the Timber Yard Café, visit the Kafiene street food truck or bring your own picnic and blankets.

Take your time, chill or maybe explore the stunning scenery and wildlife at Lyme – you may even spot the beautiful, roaming Red Deer or Highland cattle living in the park.

Saturday 22 June Emma Black (Singer guitarist).

Emma Black learned her craft as a busker in Amsterdam and Berlin, she started to describe life in the ‘under belly of society’ through song.

In a career that has spanned some 25 years, the consistent high quality of her songs and emotive live performances have gone from strength to strength.

Her enigmatic and passionate presence on stage have gained her performance opportunities alongside artists such as The Indigo Girls, Hugh Masekla, Salif Keetah, Sleeper, Oasis, The Zombies and Dr Feelgood.

Saturday 29 June Gally Canters (Folk group).

Eclectic Folk from Ireland and elsewhere – The Gally Canters performs a collection of tunes and songs featuring traditional jigs, reels and airs interspersed with folk songs, covers and self-penned numbers.

The Gallys are a collective of local musicians who are also firm friends.

They have been gigging in around the High Peak and beyond for over ten years and bring together an authentic mix of acoustic musical delights.

Saturday 6 July Duo Amanti (Sensational string duo).

Hailing from opposite sides of the Atlantic, cellist Adrianne Wininsky (USA) and violinist Chris Demetriou (GB) are well seasoned string players who have performed and recorded with many well-known names – from Grammy award winning artists to blockbuster movie soundtracks.

Saturday 13 July Will Hawthorne (Singer guitarist).

Will Hawthorne is a singer and guitarist who writes his own songs as well as having a wide repertoire of covers.

You always feel safe in Will’s musical hands as his extensive range of covers spans many decades – from Buddy Holly to The Smiths to The Kaiser Chiefs.

A skilled and experienced musician, he performs around the Peak District both solo and with the blues/rock band Responsibly Sauced. He’s a regular at Buxton Fringe and is adept at keeping his audience engaged and thoroughly entertained.

Saturday 20 July Darren Poyzer (Singer guitarist).

A singer guitarist and composer from Stockport – Darren Poyzer is a consummate musician and communicator.

A rare songwriting talent, Darren’s songs are full of insight and heart, and he engages beautifully with audiences with his warmth, humour and insight.

His music includes original songs and covers – alongside friendly banter.

Darren has worked in the music profession since 1988 , appearing at prestigious theatres and festivals across the UK (Glastonbury, Bearded Theory, Edinburgh, Belladrum etc) both in his own right and opening up the show for artistes as diverse as Wishbone Ash, John Cooper Clarke, Eddi Reader, Steve Coogan, Fisherman’s Friends and Toots And The Maytals.

  • Time: 1 pm – 3 pm
  • Location: Timber Yard, Lyme Park, Disley, Stockport, SK12 2NR
  • Admission: Normal admission charges for access to the park apply – £7 per adult – £3 per child – but the music events are all provided at no additional charge.
  • Green discount: Visit Lyme by bus, train or cycle and get a 10% green wheels discount from the café 
  • Parking and accessibility: Accessible parking is available near the Timber Yard. The event area is flat and cobblestoned.

After the event escape into the 1400 acre parkland and surround yourself with nature and beauty.
