Police officers investigating reports of an assault in Congleton are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

At around 9.30 am on Sunday 2nd June, a 65-year-old man was driving along Mill Street, Congleton, when he was approached by two men – one of them kicking his vehicle.

The victim pulled his car over to the side of the road, to check for damage, at which point the men assaulted him. He was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch with them.

PC Jardine said:
“We would urge anyone who has any information which could aid our investigation to get in touch with us. The same goes for anyone who witnessed what happened or may have any footage.

“We are also asking anyone who recognises the two men who are pictured in the CCTV images to contact us, as we believe they may hold vital information.
