Live once – but pay twice!

We may only live once, but if Cheshire East has its way – you’ll be paying them twice!

Cheshire East’s latest episode in book-keeping smoke ’n’ mirrors involves parish and town councils paying additional funds to keep libraries open.

Yes, we know, we’ve already paid for the libraries in our council tax, but thanks to the council’s profligacy, with our money, they’re having to look at ‘creative’ ways of funding – like getting us to pay again.

Remember where you first read this, because this is just the start, next it will be town and parish council’s paying to keep their tips open.

Then maybe helping pay for refuse collections. Yes, you get it, the tips and collections we’ve already paid for.

Before you know it our council tax will just be covering jobs for the boys – councillors allowances and the council’s wages bill.

Any and all services that had previously always been paid for as part of your council tax will have to be paid for again, in your town and parish council’s precept.

And don’t for a minute think your town council will object – they have proved more than willing in increasing your costs. Earlier this year Macclesfield’s precept was raised by nearly 25% – in Wilmslow an incredible 36.6%!

And, guess what, no one complained, because approval and permission was effectively given – courtesy of online ‘consultations’ – that few knew anything about.

Give anyone power and they will always, always abuse that power.

And think on, that’s before the incompetent bunch at Westminster get stuck into your hard earned – the 5% ceiling on increasing council tax will be a thing of the past.

You think robbing pensioners of their winter fuel allowance was bad?

B-b-b-baby, you just ain’t seen n-nothin’ yet!

A report last month warned that Cheshire East Council could be facing issuing a section 114 order, which is when a local authority is effectively bankrupt.
