In a further bid to bring upon us a cashless society Cheshire East is introducing a new pay-by-phone car parking option.
Motorists who prefer using a cashless solution to pay for their parking at Cheshire East Council car parks will see a change to another provider next month.
RingGo, which lets motorists pay for parking by using their phone rather than a pay-and-display machine, will replace the council’s current provider (PayByPhone) on 1 October, 2024, when the existing contract ends.
PayByPhone will remain in use until midnight on Monday September 30.
Customers can pre-register with RingGo online at: RingGo Cashless Parking Solution: Register for a RingGo account (myringgo.co.uk) or by downloading the RingGo apps for iPhone and Android devices.
Once registered, motorists can park at over 17,000 RingGo locations across the UK.
Motorists will still be able to pay for their parking at a pay-and-display machine using their credit or debit card.
For the time being Cheshire East say that at least one car park in every town in the borough will also accepts cash payments – but you’ll have to track the car park down – and sure as eggs is eggs the facility will be pulled soon.
