Cheshire police are looking for a man who posed as a traffic warden and scammed an elderly car driver.
Around 12.15 pm lunchtime on Friday, December 6, a 76-year-old man was parking his car at the South Drive car park in Wilmslow.
On exiting his car, he was approached by a man dressed in a high-visibility jacket, cap, a face-mask and black trousers.
The man told the victim he was a traffic warden, the ticket machine was broken and that he would need to pay him directly for parking by bank card.
The victim handed the man his debit card and PIN then, claiming the card machine had swallowed card, he left the scene.
A quantity of cash was subsequently withdrawn from the victim’s bank account.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers are urging residents in the area to remain cautious.
Following his success, the perpetrator may try scamming drivers in other towns in the area.
