Lloyds bank to close next month

Lloyds Bank at 64-66 Mill Street, Macclesfield will close its doors on January 28, 2025

According to Which?, banks have closed 6,214 branches since January 2015 and as with the decline in town centre independent shops and the increase in out of town shopping malls, it’s the elderly and vulnerable who struggle the most.

If your local branch is closing, you can do some basic cash or counter services at your nearest Post Office. e.g. pay in cash and cheques, make withdrawals and check your balance.

With the continued use of cards and government pressure to go cashless, cash could disappear altogether and again, it will be the elderly and vulnerable who will be hit hardest without access to vital cash services
