Cheshire East’s highways team has been working around the clock to keep our roads safe and accessible during the winter weather.
So fare they’ve responded to 181 incidents, including gritting and ploughing during heavy snowfall, removing fallen trees, flooding, closures, and diversions, responding to a sinkhole and supporting at the scene of a vehicle fire.
Teams are also continuing to support with the recovery operation following damage to the Bridgewater Canal in Little Bollington on New Year’s Day; a number of public footpaths in the surrounding area remain closed for health and safety reasons.
The council has pre-planned gritting routes which are treated when icy conditions are forecast.
In the hills, local farmers help clear the roads when snow is heavy and prolonged.
The black lines on the map show the gritting routes.
