Did you witness a South Park assault today?

Detectives are investigating an incident in Macclesfield South Park.

At around 6.30 am today, (Tuesday 11 February), a 26-year-old woman was walking through South Park, towards Maple Avenue. She was approached from behind by a man, who brought her to the floor. Fortunately the woman was able to escape and her would be attacker made off.

DI Simon Mills said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and are working tirelessly to identify the suspect.

“We understand this may cause some concern in the community and we have increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

“Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries and checking CCTV and video doorbell cameras to identify the suspect, and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.

“We would urge any witnesses or anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to get in touch with us.”
