From omni-shambles to cluster-fu**!

“In order for us to set a balanced budget, we’re having to consider some very difficult proposals.”

Sound familiar? No, it’s not Cheshire East Council again, it’s Warrington Borough Council – desperately trying to cut costs and proposing to close its Stockton Heath Community Recycling Centre.

Stockton Heath Community Recycling Centre

You’ll recall that Warrington is one of the other two councils Cheshire East is joining up with – to form a devolved super-council – brainchild of our Government.

So now we know that Warrington’s finances, like Cheshire East’s, are also in a shambles – and it’s highly likely that Cheshire West is in the same boat.

Does anyone out there imagine that the incompetents currently running these three councils will do any better with a new Cheshire council?

And for those of a certain age, like me, do you have that déjà vu feeling again? Growing up under *Cheshire County Council – before a previous government decided to play fast and loose.

A Warrington Borough Council spokesman said: “Setting our budget for 2025-26 has been very challenging. In order for us to set a balanced budget, we’re having to consider some very difficult proposals.

“The proposal to close the Stockton Heath Community Recycling Centre is one such difficult decision we are having to consider.”

If the omni-shambles we’re seeing with our Government and our three councils is anything to go by – I see a cluster-fu** heading Cheshire’s way.
