Employees at AstraZeneca were busy helping local community groups and charities during 2016 by donating 1,000 days of their time to help out.
The initiative to get more employees involved in the local community kicked off at the beginning of 2016, with the company encouraging employees to spend a day volunteering with local groups.
When AstraZeneca totalled up their efforts, they were delighted to see over 25 groups had been helped with everything from painting and decorating to building and gardening.
Andrew Higgins, North West Communications Director for AstraZeneca, said: “Getting involved in our community is good for the charities and great for the individuals. It helps build teams and allows our people to really make a difference to good causes.”
Employees were doubly pleased to hear they were selected as a finalist for a recognition award from the national body – Employee Engagement.
Looking forward AstraZeneca employees want to do even more and hope to volunteer 1,200 days in 2017.
