Mistaken identity, misunderstandings and role-switching are themes shared by two vastly different plays coming to Little Moreton Hall, near Congleton.
On 8 August, Sir Toby Belch, Malvolio, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and the other larger-than-life cast of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’, will stride across the lawn in front of the famously wonky Tudor manor house.
On 10 August it will be the turn of a bad-tempered king and queen, a kindly farmer and his wife and Priscilla and Pigmella- the principal characters of Jonathan Emmett’s story ‘The Princess and the Pig’.
Both plays will be performed by the touring company ‘Folksy Theatre’. Their artistic director Lee Hardwicke said, ‘Both are ideal for our productions, using a lot of music and plenty of audience inter-action. ‘Twelfth Night’ is a favourite with most audiences and ‘The Princess and the Pig’, which includes the use of puppets, appeals especially to families. We’re sure, whichever you choose you will have a good time.’
Rebecca Alexander, Visitor Operations Manager at Little Moreton Hall added, ‘The building forms a fantastic backdrop for productions like these. All playgoers need to bring are folding chairs or blankets, all-weather clothing and a picnic.’
