Customer engagement agency, Big Brand Ideas, has announced further expansion for its web and app development team following a number of new business wins.

Shortly after the announcement of two senior PR & social media specialists, Phill Clarence joins from Platform81 as senior developer and Jamie Watterson from Amaze as developer.

The new hires, taking the development team headcount to nine, follows a number of new business wins and an increase in demand for the company’s websites, games and apps; where it works closely with its content arm Trunk, who are known for creating games for some of the UK’s biggest brands.

Phill brings over a decade of expertise to the team in full stack web development, whilst Jamie currently specialises in front end development.

Phill has been coding since his early years and has developed a varied skill-set throughout his career having worked with digital agencies and start-ups across the country. His expertise lies in bridging the gap between front end and back end development, the ecommerce industry and custom PHP development using platforms such as Laravel, Magento and WordPress.

Jamie, who has a degree in design and built her first website aged just 12, applies user friendly and functional designs to front end development to ensure a responsive and accessible experience.

The growing development team is also home to the agency’s first apprentice, Edd Smith. Through Manchester Digital, Edd will be learning all aspects of the development trade, including his specialism in front end development, on the job at Big Brand Ideas to achieve his Level 4 apprenticeship.

Tim Butler, Technical Director at Big Brand Ideas, said: “We have grown the headcount of the development team significantly over the last 12 months, which is a reflection of our success in this area. We’ve won some great projects with both existing and new clients and we have exciting plans in the pipeline to grow this area even further.”
