Cheshire elections

Local council elections take place on 2nd May – when Cheshire East will elect both borough and town/parish councillors for the 2019-23 term.

Briefing sessions will be held for potential borough councillor candidates and/or their election agents.

Separate briefing events will also be held for town and parish council clerks and potential candidates for town and parish council elections.

Cheshire East Council returning officer Kath O’Dwyer said: “These election briefing sessions are really useful for potential candidates, agents and the clerks of our town and parish councils.

“I would encourage interested parties to book a place now, as the advice and insight on offer into the elections process is invaluable.”

The briefings have been arranged to remind candidates of the nomination procedures and other important election matters.

It is important that interested parties contact Cheshire East’s elections team to reserve a place as soon as possible – entrance will be limited to those who have booked their place prior to the event.

Sessions for prospective candidates and agents are as follows:

• Nantwich – 18th February: Main Hall, Nantwich Civic Hall, Market Street, Nantwich CW5 5NH. Borough: 5.30pm start. Town/parish: 7pm start;
• Crewe – 20th February: Council Chamber, Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe CW1 2BJ. Borough: 5.30pm start. Town/parish: 7pm start;
• Macclesfield – 22nd February: Capesthorne Room, Macclesfield Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield SK10 1EA. Borough: 11.30am start. Town/parish council: 1pm start;
• Congleton – 25th February: Bridestone Suite, Congleton Town Hall, High Street, Congleton CW12 1BN. Borough: 5.30pm start. Town/parish: 7pm start;
• Sandbach – 28th February: Committee Suites, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ. Borough: 5.30pm start. Town/parish: 7pm start;
