Trainee firefighters raise money for charity

Trainee firefighters from Cheshire Fire and Rescue service are set to static cycle from Winsford to Grenfell Tower to raise money for two charities.

Wearing their fire uniform, the team will begin cycling at Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington from 9am until 6pm on Saturday 6 April for The Fire Fighters Charity and Kensington and Chelsea Foundation. 15 firefighters will be challenged to travel a distance of 186 miles as they hope to raise money given by the public.

A number of JustGiving pages have been set up with each one aiming to raise £100 to ensure they hit a minimum of £1,500 before the event day. The trainee firefighters have given themselves a total target of £2,000 to raise by Friday 26 April.

Trainee firefighters Theo Burgess, said: “Cycling 186 miles is going to be a great challenge for our trainee firefighters who are all determined to make their target and raise £2,000 for two fantastic charities. All the money raised will go to The Fire Fighters charity and to Kensington and Chelsea Foundation who have played a pivotal part in providing support to people affected by the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower.

“I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has given a donation so far and to encourage others to come along to the event to watch our firefighters in action.”
