When long-established Thomas Cook went into liquidation, leaving many of their holiday-makers high and dry, local travel agency Prestbury Travel stepped up to the mark to help them.
In addition to many of their own clients, who were affected by the collapse, Prestbury Travel were contacted by other Thomas Cook clients uncertain of what they could do next.
Louise Lockwood, General Manager of Prestbury Travel said ‘Our branches received enquiries from local people affected by the collapse of Thomas Cook. Many people were confused about what to do and concerned about their holiday plans.”
“We understood the anxiety created by the situation and pledged to help anyone affected.”
Louise explained “when a holiday company goes into administration, the re-booking process is not simple as many clients do not have funds to pay for another holiday whilst waiting for their refund from ATOL. The majority of travel agents are also not in a position to fund the new holiday either, however Prestbury Travel made the immediate decision that all our clients who booked a flight or package holiday with Thomas Cook would be re-booked without additional payment and that we would make the ATOL claim on their behalf. This took away their worry and anxiety. Anyone who has a holiday booked with Thomas Cook either directly or through a Thomas Cook branch is welcome to come into one of our branches and we can look into re-booking their holiday and assisting them with their ATOL claim.”
