Macclesfield Christmas lights switch on

Macclesfield’s countdown to Christmas will begin with the big switch on event on Saturday 30^th November starting at 12 noon.

Hosted by Silk FM, local bands and singers will be providing stage entertainment leading up to the big finale. There will also be a chance to get some Christmas shopping done from the market stalls, a craft fair and a chance to visit Father Christmas in his Town Hall grotto until 4:30 pm, face painting, Victorian carol singers, children’s entertainment, a Father Christmas parade and a fantastic firework display following the switch on at 5 pm. 

Helena Gowler, Community Engagement Officer for Macclesfield Town Council commented that ‘We hope everyone enjoys the festive treats we have planned for this year’s switch on event. The grotto and Victorian carol singers were new additions for last year but they were so popular that we have brought them back.

We hope that lots of people join us to welcome the Christmas season to Macclesfield and of course to see the lights switched on!
