The dedication and commitment of local hard-working doctors and nurses was praised by local MP, David Rutley, on a recent visit to Macclesfield District General Hospital.
David was joined on his visit by East Cheshire NHS Trust Chairman, Ms Lynn McGill, and Chief Executive, Mr John Wilbraham.
The visit began in the Accident and Emergency Department, where David saw for himself how staff respond ably, professionally and compassionately to all manner of health concerns, day-in, day-out. The Hospital’s leadership team and David discussed the continued rising demand for NHS services, and the importance of local residents checking before visiting A&E whether or not they could receive support for their condition elsewhere, for example, from a GP or pharmacist.
Moving on to the paediatric ward, David spoke with the team about the vital care they provide to local children. The visit then concluded at Ward 11, which provides intermediate and transitional care to patients before being discharged. There, David discussed with staff how the forthcoming launch of Integrated Care Partnerships in Cheshire could assist in enabling more patients to receive after-care in their own homes, helping to reduce pressure on hospital places. In addition, they highlighted the urgent need to more fully and effectively join-up health and social care, within which Integrated Care Partnerships will also have a vital role to play.
Speaking after his visit, David said, “I was pleased to once again have the opportunity to thank our hard-working local doctors and nurses on my recent visit to Macclesfield Hospital. Their dedication, professionalism and care, particularly in the face of increasing demand, is making a real and important difference in the lives of local patients. With the launch of Integrated Care Partnerships in the coming months, there is further potential to more fully help address some of the pressures in the local health service and improve outcomes for patients.”
