Cycle and Sports tenants lined up for Jordangate development

Tenants lined up the proposed new development (http://www.ilovemacc.com/2014/07/29/new-jordangate-development-will-boost-footfall/) on Jordangate have confirmed their interest.

PEAK Cyclesport, currently the largest premium cycle retailer in the town, are looking to capitalise on their success by moving into a much larger store.

The company says it has agreed terms to take the entire ground floor of a proposed new build at King Edward House, more than double the size of its current store on Pickford Street.

A company spokesman told ilovemacc: “As well as providing more onsite parking facilities, the state-of-the-art new premises will house additional brands, a larger selection of clothing, enlarged workshop facilities, a larger customer reception and hospitality area and enable us to host launch, preview and bike themed events.”

“With Mammut Sports Group AG, one of the world’s leading and most successful suppliers of alpine, climbing and outdoor equipment, agreeing to take the upper floor(s) as [its UK HQ/trade showroom], King Edward House will become a landmark building for premium outdoor products in the north-west.”

“Our business has grown threefold since moving to our current location in 2010 and we are now one of the busiest premium bike shops in Cheshire. Our reputation and attention to detail has enabled us to secure the franchises for some of the world’s top bike, clothing and accessory brands. More than 30% of our premium bike customers travel from over an hour away, making us a destination store regionally if not nationally. Our concentration on the top brands,  excellent customer service, bike fitting and setup and everyday value pricing has enabled us to resist the growing trend towards internet shopping in the cycle sector. The new premises will enable us to accelerate our growth, with some exciting new initiatives in the pipeline.”

“King Edward House represents a substantial commitment to Macclesfield town centre for a premium bicycle retailer such as ours.”

Work on the new development is due to start in autumn 2014, subject to planning permission, for completion in early 2015.

ilovemacc says: This scheme will help regenerate a neglected area of the town centre and can make a significant contribution to the future of Macclesfield.

It’s about Macclesfield people investing in their home town – a local architect, a local developer and a local business – all anxious to breathe new life into our town. Give this scheme your support.
