Cheshire Game & Country Fair

AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY

Saturday, Sunday & Monday August 23rd, 24th, & 25th

This popular event is now in its 7th year, its three main show arenas entertain with a wide range of Country Sports & Pursuits, performed by some of the countryside’s top names.lt can be quite difficult choosing which arena to watch. New this year in the Andy Singleton arena are the Horsemen of the Knight who will be trick riding in their morning performance and jousting in the afternoon. Is anyone going to defeat the odious Black Knight?

Another popular main ring competition is the Scurry and Driving Trials with their colourful display of obstacle riding against the clock.

And when it comes to competing against the clock, those crazy Horseboarders are back in larger numbers and with a year’s more experience. It’s a fast growing extreme sport, the thrills & spills making it entertaining viewing.

After making such an impression last year Ian Griffs Security Dog display team will be tackling more criminals in the Countryside Arena, they are well worth a watch.

Moving around the showground areas there’s a veritable myriad of things going on, the Owl Show, Eagle Show,

Craft Show, Food Show and lots of opportunity to have a go at country sports and competitions. Clayshooting,

Air Rifles, Archery, Fishing and all the canine competitions and activities, Gundog Scurries, Terrier Racing, Gundog Shows will keep you well and truly interested. It’s the English Opens tenth year centenary, it does not seem ten years since the competition started at Sandringham.

It is now a well established highlight of our Cheshire event with carvers arriving from around the world; giving the competition a truly international feel.

Last years Classic competition winner, Hikaru Kodama from Japan will be returning to defend his title; nearer to home the Welsh father and son duo Harry and Danny Thomas will be defending their respective chainsaw only and full power titles.

Around 30 of the worlds top carvers will be competing in a series of competitions throughout the bank holiday.

The competition splits into four classes. The Classic,

Chainsaw Only, Full Power and the 30 minute Speed Carve, producing a large variety of carvings, themes and sizes. All the competition sculptures are sold at auction on a daily basis.

The carvers produce some really stunning sculptures, be sure to visit this popular area of the show; you may walk away with your own piece of chainsaw art.

The junior members of the family are not forgotten with all the usual children’s entertainments, waterballs, bungees & bouncy castles and a host of animal attractions, hamsters, alpacas, donkeys, ferrets and potty parrots.

On a more serious note there are children’s workshops too, try fishing, falconry and dog handling.
