Miserable people

Many of you will be familiar with the fantastic attraction we have on our eastern border, Three Shires Head.

It does what it says on the tin, in that three shires meet at two wonderful packhorse bridges. It’s the kind of location that could be straight out of Lord of the Rings. 

We’ll…. That’s if in such a movie (others are available and books too) the characters dropped copious amounts of litter, burnt the ground with their portable BBQs and left uneaten food to fester on the waters edge including spicy chicken. 

Not forgetting the discarded socks, tshirts and more along the banks too. 

This is a wonderful place that many a person uses to wild swim. This weekend saw walkers, swimmers, off road trail riders and more enjoying the sun and sharing the place safely, but at what cost? 

We as a society need to do much better.

If you carry it in, you carry it out. Don’t use portable BBQs – because we all know, you have no intention of taking them home. 

Thanks to Ranger Martin Peak District National Park  and others, the litter and broken glass that was in with the sheep and near to the water, has been cleared.

Our team don’t want litter louts and those involved in ASB to visit the countryside if they can’t simply follow the #CountrysideCode. We will continue to work with our partner agencies and neighbouring forces to tackle the issue and prosecute those responsible. 

We all owe a huge thank you to all the people who are keeping our countryside clean and beautiful. 

However we can’t do this alone, and we still need your help. If you see people behaving in such a way, make sure you report what details you can.
