As the summer commences, the weather remains bright and the lockdown is easing, The Royal Cheshire County Show – this year a one-day event – should be on everyone’s mind!
Following on from the success of the behind-closed-doors equine and canine competitions, which took place in June, the countdown has begun for the one-day show on 31st July.
The Cheshire Agricultural Society is holding the show on a Saturday for the first time ever, to enable everyone to enjoy it. But, to ensure the event is as safe as possible, entry will be restricted to members and ticket holders only. Tickets are only available to purchase online at Royalcheshireshow.org
Competitions being held will include Heavy Horses, Pygmy Goats, Dairy Goats, Valais Blacknose Sheep, Dutch Spotted Sheep, Zwartbles Sheep, Jacob Sheep and Honey.
Many of the past’s favourite attractions will be making a return along with many new ones. Those looking for thrills will be pleased to note the return of the amazing and nail-biting Quad Bike Stunt Show by Paul Hannam – featuring precision riding, nail-biting tricks whilst leaping any number of obstacles.
For all the foodies attending this year’s show, multi-Michelin Star and 5/5 AA Rosette winning Chef, Jean-Christophe Novelli, will be creating some extra-special dishes – for you to maybe try and then recreate at home. Chefs Sean Wilson and Brian Mellor will also be cooking up a storm.
After a year away from the showground, the show promises something for everyone to enjoy and get involved in. It’ll be a fun and educational (but non-school) day for the kids, who should look out for the Sheep Show, where Susan the Southdown Sheep and her friends will be demonstrating the breeds behind wool and where woolly garments come from.
Those preferring nostalgia can immerse themselves in Vintage Machinery attractions which include displays of vintage stationary engines, tractors, cars and working demonstrations of farm equipment – giving an insight into the way farm machinery has evolved.
With a fabulous day in the sunny Cheshire countryside, The Royal Cheshire County Show shouldn’t be missed.
