Fund helps Cheshire’s young people

The Prince’s Trust has been awarded £5,000 from Cheshire’s Police & Crime Commissioner’s Crime Prevention Fund, enabling young people from across the county to identify a project and work together to improve the lives of the wider community.

Commissioner John Dwyer said, “The Prince’s Trust Team programme is worthwhile, as it helps to educate and in some cases rehabilitate, young people who might have previously been heading down the wrong paths, committing low level crime or anti-social behaviour.

“Previously, I’ve made 3 small awards to 3 individual Prince’s Trust groups, but by awarding them with £5,000 it means that Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service, who run the scheme, can distribute the funds quickly and accordingly as and when they’re needed. This money enables the individual teams to get whatever materials they need to help make an improvement to the local community. I want to wish everyone involved in the scheme the best of luck, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact you make.”

Nick Evans, Youth and Community Cohesion Manager for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The Prince’s Trust programme makes such a difference to the lives of the young people involved but we would not be able to run the scheme if it wasn’t for the funding we get. I am pleased the Commissioner agrees how important the project is and is helping us ensure we can continue to have a real impact on the lives of young people across Cheshire.”
