MACC-POW! returns for its’ 8th year with a full weekend celebrating comic book art in the heart of Macclesfield.
A truly unique event for the town that brings together both local and international creators in a leap and one-single-bound!
Get up-close and personal with legendary comic pros and the bright stars of the future, as we celebrate this wonderful world with a diverse mix of amazing creators.
This year we launch the festival on the 29th June with an exhibition of illustrator Stanley Chow’s work in Proper Sound café/bar with a live DJ set from the man himself, and a ‘how to turn yourself into a comic character drawing session too!
Our main exhibitors day takes place once again in the listed TOWN HALL BUILDING on July 1st (10-4PM) with a room bursting with incredible creators exhibiting their work.
PLUS there will be activities taking place across Macclesfield in the Library (Dennis the Menace drawing with Nigel Parkinson) Emma Reynolds ‘Five minute portraits’ in Acacia Tree café, Jim Smith’s cartoons and coffee trail through town, animation workshops, comics out loud and more!
On Sunday 2nd of July, The Button Warehouse once again transforms into the Graphic Novel Reading room, and Macclesfield’s comic and cartoon art studio, ROOM FOR COMICS, hosts a full day of drawing workshops!
Cinemac screens the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film from 1990 (with NYC slice pizza at Chestergate’s THE DEPOT) to close the festival.
