Consultation (plan) to extend car parking charges

Cheshire East Council have launched a consultation (plan) relating to extending charges at all its car parks until 10 pm every night – and to impose charges on Sundays.

We’ve all come to understand that any consultation means that the council has already decided the outcome and will indeed increase the charge period to 10 pm – and charge for car parking on Sundays.

Of course it’s highly unlikely they’ve given consideration for the need to ‘police’ the car parks during these extended hours – to ensure the parking is paid for. But that’s for another day.

They state the tariffs would be in line with the rates for the rest of the week – which means parking during the evening will cost you just as much as during the day.

The cash-strapped council are looking at many ways to extract more money from residents – it’s just a pity that more thought wasn’t put into their extravagant expenditure in the Crewe area over the past few years.

They indicate their proposals (plans) could provide up to £2m over the next 4 years to support other council services, such as highways maintenance, bus services and active travel schemes.

We at ilovemacc think it’s inevitable that all these services will go in the same direction as library services – cash needed to maintain them will be provided by local parish and town councils.

Yes, we know you’ve already paid for these in your council tax – but needs must – and the council’s profligacy must be paid for . . . by us . . . twice over!

The consultation runs until 9 October – after which the results of the consultation (plan) will be put into effect.

Responses to the consultation can be provided by emailing carparksreview2024@cheshireeast.gov.ukmail using ‘Variation 12’ as the email subject header.

And you thought it would be a simple do you agree? Yes or No!
