Technical issues with 999 landline calls

Technical issues are affecting 999 calls from landlines in east Cheshire, the county’s fire brigade has warned.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said in a post on a post on X.

The post stated that the problems were affecting calls in Macclesfield, Knutsford, Bollington and Northwich.

It said residents should use a mobile phone if they need to dial 999 for the next few hours.

A representative said the landline service was expected to be restored by the early hours of Tuesday, with the problem due to be resolved in Macclesfield, Bollington and Knutsford by 01:30 BST and in Northwich by 06:00.

The service has not confirmed if the issue has affected calls to the other emergency services.

North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Police have not posted on social media about any issues and have been contacted for comment.
